Transport
Pico has frequent flight connections coming into its airport, making it the most common way to arrive on the island. Visitors can also reach the island by sea transport through the existing local sea transport companies, or resort to the sea tourism companies to travel between the different islands of the central group.
You can take a direct flight from your departure airport to Lisbon, and arrive via Ponta Delgada or Terceira with SATA or TAP. If you arrive on another Azorean island via charter flight, you must book your trip to Pico through the local company SATA. Before arriving in the archipelago, you must organize and schedule your connecting flight.
Visiting the Azores by boat is an unforgettable experience.
For travelling between the islands of the Central Group by boat (Faial, Pico, São Jorge, and Terceira), there is a monohull and a catamaran available ensuring connections all year long. We highlight the connection between Horta (Faial) and Madalena (Pico) with 4 to 6 daily connections.
It is possible to travel by boat to any island in the archipelago, on either of the two available ships of greater capacity, offering services such as transport of vehicles, cabins, restaurant, and bar.
You can travel by land using public transportation, taxis, car rentals, or transport provided by tourist entertainment companies, travel agencies, or tourist enterprises. You can find the contact information for companies that rent cars and bicycles here to help you plan your trip.
